DEXA (Bone Densiitometry)

It is estimated that 28 million Americans suffer from osteoporosis, which can place them at increased risk from fractures that can cause pain or even require surgery or hospitalization, simply because of decreased bone strength.

A Dual-Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) test is a bone density study that can screen for osteoporosis or low bone mass; fast, safe, and painless, it measures bone strength and can predict your risk for bone fracture. DEXA is used to monitor response to specific medications used to improve bone mineral density.

The High Definition Instant Vertebral Assessment (IVA-HD) we use allows us to identify spine fractures with a fast, low-dose, single energy image that delivers twice the resolution that was previously available. Innovative CADfx technology quantifies the degree of vertebral compression.

In advance of your exam, please let the patient representative, radiologist or technologist know if you have had an MRI or CT scan within one (1) week of your scheduled appointment.
