X-Ray / Fluoroscopy

Since their discovery in 1895, X-rays or radiographs have become a mainstay of medical diagnosis, allowing radiologists and other physicians to examine the bones and other tissues within the body.

At DIOS, we strive to make your experience as stress-free as possible. If your physician has ordered a routine X-ray for you, there is no need to make an appointment; simply walk in our clinic and our staff will be ready to accomodate your study, including studies requiring immediate results reporting.

Fluoroscopy represents a type of 'video X-ray' that allows real-time imaging. It is used to observe the digestive tract and to guide injections. Some tests that can be performed under fluoroscopy include upper GI examinations, esophagrams, barium enemas, and arthrograms.  Fluoroscopy studies use X-rays to capture "real time" images of an organ while it is functioning. It is often used to observe the digestive tract, as with an upper GI examination, which can help your physician make the diagnosis of peptic ulcer disease or gastroesophageal reflux. It is also used to guide injections, such as the injection of steroids into a joint for pain relief, or the injection of MRI contrast into a joint to allow for MR arthrogram studies that exquisitely detail the anatomy of a joint for your doctor.

Our new digital system allows us to obtain images that can be digitally enhanced for maximal accuracy. We are specially trained in performing and interpreting digital radiography and fluoroscopy studies.

For most X-rays: No special preparation is required.

Check with your physician, especially if pregnant, to be sure.

If you are pregnant, please tell our patient representative.
